Phase 1: An introduction to English 101

  Entering the Fall semester in City College was an occurrence that frankly wasn’t in my plan book. A last option, a safety net, something to fall back on, that’s all this school meant to me when applying to colleges, yet there I found myself, in the director’s office building out my schedule. Phase 2: Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone

Growing familiar with the school now , the hour train ride, the chipotle down the block, the security guard at Shepard Hall, I found a sense of belonging, and more importantly gained a sense of being comfortable. In English Class my skeptic attitude towards the class vanished, replaced with a sense of relief and nurture as assignments produced were ones that related to my everyday life or experiences. Phase 3: Discovering My Voice

Phase 3 marks the phase where I transitioned from an inactive research writer, to a writer with meaning, purpose, and conviction. Jeffrey Torres was not an intentional writer, nor one with action attributed with his passion. I was an assignment writer, I would continuously write profoundly about topics that I had no interest in, or was simply done for a grade.
